Discovered by the Portuguese in 1505, Mauritius was subsequently held by the Dutch, French, and British before independence was attained in 1968. A stable democracy with regular free elections and a positive human rights record, the country has attracted considerable foreign investment and has earned one of Africa's highest per capita incomes. Mauritius is know as the “Paradise on Earth” with its sparkling clear water sea , white sandy beaches, breath taking views and very warm and welcoming people.

Climate
Warm coastal climate (particularly January to April), with relatively little seasonal variation in temperatures, although they are generally slightly lower inland; with more rain on the plateau around Cure pipe. Cyclones may occur between November and February. Sea breezes blow all year, especially on the east coast.
